Steven M. Vaught was born in Wilmington, Delaware in 1977. He graduated from the University of Delaware in 2000 with a degree in Criminal Justice. He is currently a full time law school student in his third and final year, working towards graduation in May of 2003.

Steven is an avid reader, focusing especially science-fiction and historical-fiction, and fantasy works when not reading historical non-fiction. He credits his passion for science-fiction to the many works of Robert A. Heinlein.

Earth Defiant is his first novel. Steven is currently working on the sequel to Earth Defiant and is in the initial stages of an historical-fiction novel revolving around Julius Caesar and the Gallic Wars of the First Century, BC. Additionally, he is pursuing completion of a historical-fiction novel about the Delaware Continental Soldiers of the American Revolution.
