Terry was born in 1963 in Red Bay, Alabama. After spending eight years in the United States Air Force (including two separate tours in South Korea), he spent the next five years working for the Abilene Police Department in Abilene, Texas. After moving back to his home state for a year, he now resides in Nashville, where he works at a large printing company to support his writing habit.

Terry resides with his wife of seventeen years, Kum Hui (whom he met while residing in Korea) and their three year old basset hound, 'Lloyd'.
